In polls throughout the United States, the National Restaurant Association found that 74% of consumers aged 25-34 and more than 60% of other adults would use an electronic payment system at the table if it was offered by the restaurant.

Investigative Intelligence, Inc recently found that according to recent statistics, since 2005 almost 50% of all credit fraud occurs in restaurants and 70% of incidents are perpetrated by an employee.

1.  WHY IS CHEXPLIT BETTER THAN CREDIT OR DEBIT CARDS?
Almost 50% of all credit fraud occurs in restaurants and almost 70% of those incidents are perpetrated by the waitperson or some other employee of the restaurant. CheXplit provides more secure methods of payment that have been used by banks and over the internet for years. If you prefer to pay with a credit card, you can still use CheXplit to calculate your portion of the bill.
2.  WHY IS CHEXPLIT BETER THAN CASH?
CheXplit is great for those times when you don't have the correct change, when you don't have enough cash or forgot to go to the ATM altogether. If you prefer to pay with cash, you can still use CheXplit to calculate your portion of the bill. 
3.  DO I HAVE TO DOWNLOAD / INSTALL ANYTHING?
You do not have to install any software on your phone. CheXplit is available online via the internet browser on most mobile phones.
4.  HOW DO I ACCESS THE INTERNET FROM MY PHONE?
Most mobile phones have a built-in web browser just like your personal computer. In most cases, you can just click on an internet link (i.e. from a text message) or you can open the browser from a button or icon on your phone.
5.  DO I HAVE TO CHANGE ANY OF THE SETTINGS ON MY PHONE?
Some mobile phones are sold with the enhanced features disabled. When accessing CheXplit, you will be prompted with a message if we recommend that you update some of these settings on your phone. You may be able to still use CheXplit without these changes but some of the features may be disabled. 
6.   IS CHEXPLIT FREE?
CheXplit does not charge you anything. Depending on your wireless account agreement, your cellular provider may charge you to access the internet from your phone.
7.  HOW MUCH DOES IT COST TO ACCESS THE INTERNET?
This is different for every wireless carrier; some offer monthly internet/data plans, some let you "pay-as-you-use" and some offer both options. If you are able to view a web page (ie Google, Yahoo, etc.) or receive email on your phone you probably already have access to the internet. We recommend that you refer to the details of your current wireless contract. 
8.  IS CHEXPLIT DIFFICULT TO USE?
CheXplit has been designed to be very easy and intuitive. The wait staff of participating restaurants will always be available to provide assistance if needed, "Help" screens are available at every step of the process and you can refer to our Online Reference as well if you want to learn any Tips & Tricks that are available. 
9.  DO I EARN REWARDS EVERYTIME I USE CHEXPLIT?
Some restaurants only offer rewards for special promotions, some do not issue rewards at all and some always issue rewards. A complete list of all participating restaurants and what rewards they offer can be seen here. 
10.  WHAT CAN I DO WITH THE CHEXPLIT REWARDS THAT I'VE EARNED?
Rewards can be used to purchase merchandise online, gift cards for any participating restaurant and in some restaurants, you can use your points to purchase your meal with CheXplit.
11.  WHERE IS CHEXPLIT AVAILABLE?

12.  DOES CHEXPLIT WORK ON ALL MOBILE PHONES?
CheXplit works on most cellular phones and many other wireless devices; please refer to the full list of compatible devices. If your device is not listed, please contact us and we will confirm if / when it is compatible.
13.  IS CHEXPLIT SAFE / SECURE?
CheXplit uses secure encryption and communication methods that have been used over the internet for years. Surveys have shown that it is safer to purchase something online than a meal in a restaurant.
14.  WHAT IF I DO NOT HAVE A MOBILE PHONE?
In most cases, you do not have to use your own phone; you can use a friend's phone and some restaurants may have mobile devices that can be used instead of a phone.
15.  CAN I USE A PALM PILOT OR HANDHELD COMPUTER?
If the restaurant has a Wi-Fi hotspot available that allows you to connect to the internet, you can use CheXplit. Please refer to the full list of compatible devices. If your device is not listed, please contact us and we will confirm if / when it is compatible.
16.   WHY IS MY ONLINE PAYMENT PROVIDER NOT AVAILABLE?
Each participating restaurant determines what payment solutions it will provide. If your solution is not available at a particular restaurant, please feel free asking the restaurant directly or you can contact us
17.  DO I NEED TO BE A CHEXPLIT MEMBER?
You do not have to be a rewards member to use CheXplit. Members can receive receipts via text message, email and can earn rewards for purchases. New features and benefits are added to CheXplit on a regular basis, CheXplit members can receive alerts when these enhancements are available in their area.
18.   WILL MY INFORMATION BE SHARED WITH ANYONE?
No! We do not sell or share your contact details with anyone. Occasionally, participating restaurants and partners may have promotions, but you do not have to receive these if you choose not to.
